Someone Else's Love Story by Joshilyn Jackson

4.0

When I picked up this novel, I expected a straightforward love story — silly, really, considering the book's title. Instead, I discovered a novel that tells a tale of love(s), while exulting in people's differences, hidden strength, and interdependency.

The narrators, Shandi and William, present very unique perspectives and inner dialogues, and while William's nature makes him harder to understand initially, his journey becomes utterly compelling.

Despite the novel opening with an armed robbery, the "good stuff" comes much later, as we gain insight into our narrators' pasts and hopes for the future and encounter some unexpected twists.

While this novel was not what I expected, it was a novel I thoroughly enjoyed.
