The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence

inspiring reflective fast-paced

2.75

This is a reflective and encouraging read that challenges believers to think about God throughout their daily lives, no matter what they’re doing. Brother Lawrence’s simple approach to communion with God is inspiring and reminds us to seek His presence in all things.

However, I found that the book doesn’t emphasise reading Scripture as a way to know God, which is essential. Instead, it suggests that thinking about God constantly is the key to knowing Him, which, while valuable, should be balanced with studying His Word.

Another concern was the idea of not taking medicine to demonstrate faith in God for healing. While God can and does heal supernaturally, He also works through doctors and medicine, and using them doesn’t mean a lack of faith.

Overall, this book offers a good reminder of practicing God’s presence in daily life, but it should be read with discernment and balanced with a strong foundation in Scripture.
