Belly Of The Beast is one of those books that will always stick with me. In fact, it's one of those books you re-read on a semi-regular schedule.
The author expertly navigates the nuances of fatphobia and racism, as well as the impact it has on society and individuals. I learned a lot about Desire/Desirability through the lens of the "unDesirable". The examples provided were engaging and rich in their historical importance. I definitely hear the author in their call to dismantle the system that allows some people to be endangered based on how attractive it deems them to be.
I can't recommend this book enough!
