emotional informative inspiring reflective fast-paced

I discovered Elton John in Junior High when I fell in love with Your Song. I remember being enamored while watching him on Dick Cavett in 1971. I dragged my friends - and my mother - to the Iowa State Fair to see him perform in 1973 - with Steely Dan as the opening act. I was less enamored after the Rock of the Westies - but never stopped admiring him.
This book - is honest, raw and forthright. He doesn’t gloss over his addictions or his outrageous behavior, he doesn’t blame others for his shortcomings, he honors other musicians. As an audio book - I would have enjoyed a little more music interspersed between chapters - but overall - well done. His compassion for Ryan White - his admiration for Leon Russell - his humanitarian work with Princess Diana, Lady Gaga, and the Elton John AIDS Foundation. A great read about one of the modern day’s greatest musicians.
