The Girl Who Was Saturday Night by Heather O'Neill

5.0

Unbelievable. Tragic, beautiful, holy disturbing. I'd expect nothing less of Heather O'Neill. If you liked Lullabies for Little Criminals, you'll love this. I found myself crying and frustrated at the characters in the story and their self-destroying ways yet at the same time marveling and the clever sentences and beauty of the odd and disgusting against the simple and every day. This book takes you out of the worst parts of your life, puts you into someone else's and asks you to enjoy it. It's long awaited and I'll be re-reading again. Repeatedly.
