This is my second Shusterman book and I will be adding him on my ever-expanding author list. Full of inventive surprises, Everlost was a quick read and felt both familiar and new. Shusterman effectively uses timeless tropes to weave a story that has mythic and common elements both. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I felt a comfort in the way this story was written. Familiarity is the closest word I have in terms of description - and I do not mean it disparagingly. Rather, his style is like putting on your favorite sweatshirt and pajama pants and curling up in bed with a favorite book. Comfortable (though not comforting) and good.
