The Persian Gamble by Joel C. Rosenberg

3.0

In comparison to other books by Rosenberg, this one felt oddly disjointed. It may have been because I was reading it on my Kindle (although I have read others by him using the same medium), but at times it was confusing to keep track of where we were (in the world/storyline) because of flipping from Russia/Iran/US/North Korea and some characters.

Also, I am definitely not opposed to faith being built into a story line, but this time it just felt like it stood out so much, rather than being woven into everything. One moment the main character (and others) are grappling with how Ryker can kill another person because of his faith, and in another moment he is throwing grenades and spraying bullets everywhere. (It just seemed so back/forth). Add into that one scene of crazy mayhem and fighting and then a daily reflection of a chapter of Proverbs and - well, it didn’t “flow”.

4 stars for storyline, but taking one off for the disjointed feeling.
