Sometimes, especially with science fiction novels, you have to suspend your disbelieve or risk over analysing the plot and ruining your enjoyment. Awakened is one such novel.
I loved it right from the first page. It's full on action and suspense from the start. There are monsters, explosions, floods and even political intrigue - it has it all!
My only criticism is that I didn't know it was the first of a trilogy until I got almost to the end and realised a lot of lose ends needed tying up and I was running out of pages to read! I'm already counting down the months until the next installment!
