I really loved this book. The romance was sweet, the character development was fantastic, and the trauma resolution was healing.
I think we’ve all felt like Delilah at some point - unwanted and hard to love. This really shows in her relationship with her step-sister, Astrid. They both lost so much at such a young age, neither knew how to move past it alone, let alone help the other. They heal some of their trauma together, and it’s comforting.
Delilah always felt left out as a child, teen, and young adult. She never really had friends, so seeing her friendship with Iris develop so naturally made me reflect on the very few close female friendships I’ve had in life.
And of course the main event, Delilah and Claire. When you’ve been missing a true connection your whole life, you’re understandably wary when someone catapults into your life and makes you feel emotions you never thought you’d have. I love the casual friendship they have underneath their romantic relationship.
This was a great read. This cast of characters is perfect in many ways. I can’t wait to see more from Astrid and Iris soon.
