Provocauteurs and Provocations: Screening Sex in 21st Century Media by Maria San Filippo

challenging informative slow-paced

5.0

Provacauteurs and Provocations is a tremendous work of media criticism. I finished reading it this morning, and I enjoyed reading it slowly and chewing on the ideas it introduces and amplifies. It invites critical thought about the content San Filippo discusses, and clearly enough that I find myself using the book as a lens to think and talk about other content (Sex Education and I May Destroy You, for instance.)

Prepare for, yes, plot summaries and fairly academic language -- but also for valuable, accessible insight.
