The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa

The characters, seamless integration of Brazilian culture, family and commentary on what it means to be a woman of colour in the workplace probably would have shaped this story up to be one of my favourite romances of the year.

I really loved those portions of the story.

While I didn't go into this story surprised about what the plot was going to be, I was surprised at the lack of malicious intent from the characters. While three years is a long time to some people, I don't think I would, in Lina's shoes, be able to stand having anything more than a professional relationship with my ex's family. The conflict in this plot was how to avoid any and all conflict when it came to this issue and while I adore when people do communicate, I can't help but wonder if this played out in real life would people be that civil in the same situation.

I think for a story that speaks a lot of truth on many issues, I wasn't as invested in Lina and Max's relationship past friendship and that's where "The Worst Best Man" lost my interest.
