There aren't enough words to capture how much I love this book. I don't think there are enough words to capture the love IN this book.
A Love Song for Ricki Wilde is such a beautiful story, almost tragically. Tia Williams has a way with her writing, making her characters feel so lived in, vibrant and important. Magical realism is a tricky balance, but I think it's displayed well here - just enough to understand the weight it carries to the story without overshadowing the characters. The emotions I felt with this book weren't unexpected per say, but I was surprised by how much I felt. For Ricki and Ezra, for Ms. Della, even Tuesday.
This was a real page-turner, and I'm sad it's over. Is it a love story? Yes. Is it so much more? Also, yes. Ricki Wilde as a character is a force. And may we all find a love like Ezra Walker.
