I loved this! Gave me Ninth House vibes (with a little bit of Daughters of Jubilation too). I love that the magic system is explicitly impacted by colonialism, and shaped by traumas both familial/personal and large/systemic. I struggled with some of the expository world building / keeping track of details and names. But the writing overall was engaging and I was happy to go along for the ride, especially with the therapy & Rootcraft scenes. Would have been improved with more Alice Chen though.
