Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez

This is now my favorite Abby book! Justin being angry with his mom since he now needs to care for his siblings was relatable! My brother raised me for some years while my mom could not so this storyline holds a special place for me. Now, Emma, I get it that she saw the best in her mom even when her mom did not deserve it. There are many times when we try to protect those familial relationships. I wanted her to realize that she earned more than her mom a lot sooner, but we are all on our journey. I was an angry kid due to my circumstances, so her "Always choose Empathy" mantra resonates with me in so many ways as I am choosing my happiness.
