I had a hard time getting into this book and I should have taken that for the warning it was.
Both characters feel very one dimensional. Soldier is very much stuck in the woe is me born into a bad situation and it just got worse mentality. He doesn’t grow, and brings up his past at every possible opportunity. Frankly by 40% I was annoyed. Rain isn’t much better. The final straw for me was the conversation about books on their date. If felt corny and like it was breaking the fourth wall.
This book just gives off bad hallmark special.
