I thoroughly enjoyed all three books in this trilogy, this being the last. In this installment, former police detective Henry Palace is on another missing person case - this time trying to find his wayward sister (his last living relative), without whom he has decided he does not want to face the imminent end of the world. His quest takes him from Maine to Ohio, across a very different, pre-apocalyptic U.S., to a deserted police station, under which his sister and her conspiracy-driven compatriots have gone to await the coming of Maia (a gigantic asteroid on a collision course with Earth).

I highly recommend the whole Last Policeman series (The Last Policeman, Countdown City and World of Trouble) to fans of mystery, science fiction and just plain good stories.
