As my favorite book of January, maybe the year to date, I shouldn’t have taken so long to write this review. But the good ones stay with you, so I’m able to write this reviews five months later because I’m still thinking enough about Reed and Halley’s story.
“I wanted it. I wanted it more than I wanted air.”
Filled with nostalgic 90s vibes, beautiful music references (Wonderwall by Oasis), and enough pining and angst to fill the forest, the story pulls you in and doesn’t let you go. The age gap, the way Reed holds himself back because he knows that it’s wrong, but in the end they end up falling in love over time, and when Halley is an adult anyway… it all comes together in this beautiful symphony of Jennifer Hartman‘s writing.
“ I always knew we had that kind of love.” — Reed
“What kind of love?” — Halley
“The growing old together kind.” — Reed
