Fight Club 2: The Tranquility Gambit by Dave Stewart, Cameron Stewart, Chuck Palahniuk, Chuck Palahniuk
4.0
I honestly don't know what I was expecting from Fight Club 2, but it certainly wasn't this. I have read everything Chuck Palahniuk has written, and count several of his books (including [b:Fight Club|5759|Fight Club|Chuck Palahniuk|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1357128997s/5759.jpg|68729]!) among my all-time favorites. This is, beyond a doubt, the most Chuck Palahniuk book Chuck Palahniuk has ever written.
Having said that, I'm not sure that makes it a very good read. I absolutely delighted in seeing characters return, and the callbacks to the book (and even movie) were fun in a fan service-y way. And hey, Palahniuk seems to have adapted well to the format (helped, no doubt by the great [a:Cameron Stewart|317625|Cameron Stewart|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1351355913p2/317625.jpg]). But the plot is...not great, to say the least. It jumps all over the place, layers metatext upon metatext upon metatext, and in the end says more about the author than the characters.
It's absolutely worth reading if you're a fan of the book, or movie, or just Palahniuk as an author. But it's more of a curiosity than a worthwhile follow-up.
