A Convenient Fiction by Mimi Matthews
3.5
hopeful lighthearted medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

Very solid writing with characters that felt true. I recall that previously I had bypassed Mimi Matthews' books because they were clean romances. However, recently I saw this book on a friend's shelf, and I changed my mind (and because lately, I have come to appreciate going back to the roots of romance books). And I am glad I did.

The pace might not have been too energetic at times, but the world building was tangible and the romance between Alex and Laura very, very sweet. My big complaint is that we got no resolution by the end of the book on whether the dishonest solicitor got his dues.

Will definitely dig into more books from this author.
