Great fun but not on par with the innkeeper chronicles which I think has the right balance with the gore. This one has a lot more gore which I'm used to with the older books from Ilona Andrews but I like how close we usually get to more than one character in books like the ones from The Edge (lots of death and destruction but also a lot of character insight). I'm not sure I had enough from the shape shifters in this one. Still, I read it in a day and a half (audiobook format) so I was definitely still hooked.
