Honestly i really liked this, it kind of got me out of a slump; it's very different then anything i've read recently! atmospheric, creepy, all that jazz...This is a very dark and odd coming-of-age story, if anything.

her writing is gross/sad/uncomfy esp the laxatives part and parts about the poor boys in the prison.... but i had noooo idea where the book was going with Rebecca and literally could not put it down for the last 50 pages. Like my heart was BEATINGGGG guys it was soooo weird.

If you don't mind feeling uncomfortable/grossed out/tense, this book is for you, kinda like an a24 movie or something. Eileen's voice really sold it for me, esp when she would always be like "such were my daydreams." relatable lol. probably don't want to relate to her too hard but i can totally see myself being her if i was born under these circumstances lol. dramatic, melancholy, terrified to grow up, woe-is-me, etc.

Rebecca and Eileen are both bonkers but I kind of love them both. I love crazy ladies!!!!

random quotes:
- "Before that, still young and neurotic, just allowing a man to listen to me urinate was utter humiliation, torture, and therefore, I thought, proof of profound love and trust."
- "A grown woman is like a coyote- she can get by on very little. Men are more like house cats. Leave them alone for too long and they'll die of sadness."
