Borrowed Light by Carla Kelly

3.0

I needed a break from some heavier reading and this was a nice light read. It was fun to read about a simpler life and people who enjoy the country. I thought it was interesting that one of the characters was half American Indian and I wished the author could have incorporated more American Indian culture.

I did have a few qualms with the characters in this book. I thought the main character, Julia, acted more like she was 18 rather then 28. Also, her passivity toward her own religion annoyed me and made me dislike her somewhat. Her love interest was mostly likable.
SpoilerHis decision to "test" Julia at the end of the book made me far more angry then it did Julia. She's more forgiving then I am! Maybe its because she's so passive...

Overall, the plot kept my attention and I finished the book quickly. Three stars.
