The House of Forgetting by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

5.0

I've become such a fan of Mr. Sáenz! Despite this being one of his older works, his characterization especially is so strong. I do think it's a marked improvement from Carry Me Like Water, his previous novel, which was much more underwhelming though it also had strong characterization (and arguably too many characters).

I'm glad Gloria got her ending of poetic justice and Mr. Blacker got what he deserved. I can rely on Benjamin Alire-Sáenz for these things as he provides the same justice in a subsequent novel, In Perfect Light, which I also loved. I just loved this book and hope the author writes more adult fiction in the future, though I do enjoy his YA stuff of course.
