Crying in H Mart
by Michelle Zauner
emotional
reflective
medium-paced
CW: cancer, grief, death of a parent, physical punishment, mention of termination of pregnancy, graphic depictions of palliative care and cancer treatment
🌟 Memoir
🌈 Korean author
This was an absolutely beautiful memoir, reflecting on complex familial relationships, love, the harrowing impact cancer has on both the patient and the family unit, grief, and the authors Korean American identity.
1. Do not read in public. I sobbed on the bus several times.
2. Do not read on an empty stomach, the memoir involves food, a lot of it, and I am making it my mission to try every Korean dish that exists after hearing the borderline reverent descriptions in this book.
