Falling for the Highlander by Lynsay Sands

I received this book for free from Library in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I have had Falling for the Highlander on my to read shelf since before this book came out. I even got a review copy of it. But, for whatever reason, I originally had a hard time getting into it. But I decided to try it again since I've been reading other books in this series. And I'm so glad I did, but I really enjoyed this. It's not my favorite in the series, but still super cute.
Falling for the Highlander was exactly what I was expecting from a Lynsay Sands romance. Even when the book touches on more upsetting aspects (like Murine's half-brother attempting to sell her for horses), the book comes off very light and fluffy. I love fluffy, but I will admit sometimes Sands' books lack a bit of depth.
As for the characters, Dougall and Murine - I liked them both. Murine is not afraid to take risks, which I really liked. She's desperate to get away from her half-brother, and even attempts to leave his home 9on a rather unusual animal). Murine does have some health issues, and does faint quite a bit until they discover the cause of the fainting. Dougall grew on me. He was a bit grumpy at the beginning, but I did like him soon enough. And I did like Dougall and Murine together. I wouldn't say they are an all-time favorite couple, but I liked them together and could understand why they would like each other.
The mystery was not fantastic, and it was super easy to figure out what was going on. Still, I wasn't really reading this one for the mystery, and that wasn't a deal breaker at all. I also am learning that I prefer Lynsay Sands' books, especially her books with Scottish characters, best as audiobooks. Reading the Scottish accent is kind of annoying, but listening to a narrator with that accent is not so bad at all.
I am very much enjoying seeing all of the Buchanan brothers falling for their ladies and I am definitely excited to read more. If you enjoy lighthearted, Highland historical romances, definitely take a look at Falling for the Highlander by Lynsay Sands.This review was originally posted on Quinn's Book Nook
