I fell in love with this book the same way I did little women. Napolitano has created a gorgeous book where we connect to all her characters and are invited to become invested and eventually all consumed by their stories. I adore all of these sisters, their father, William and the next generation in Izzy and Alice. The story is shy of devastating but also equally hopelessly lovely. I was not expecting for Sylvie to pass away but we learn from this that loss has the potential to reunite and reconcile in the most cruel way . I just hope that in a universe somewhere these characters find hope and happiness and that Sylvie is reunited with Charlie the connection I feel between this novel and little women is a beautiful ode or nod to the original that fans like me cannot help but love, but the book stands on its own two feet. Finally the Padavano sisters and William are all gorgeously complex and flawed but you cannot help but fall in love with them all.
