There isn’t anything this book does that the Lord of The Flies hasn’t already done better. At some point, it just becomes torture porn involving children

So many times I found myself asking “Why?”

“Why do I need to know so much about what this minor’s penis is doing, Nick Cutter?”

“Why do we need to know if we can see this minor’s ass crack, Nick Cutter?”

I love horror, I love thrillers, I love gore, but the horror and thrills and gore in this book were senseless, regardless of how well it was written. I wish there was some sort of purpose to everything that happened, but there really wasn’t, so I was just left feeling gross and sad.

However, I do think that’s exactly what the author was going for. Regardless, I personally didn’t enjoy it for that reason.
