Gerald's Game by Stephen King

"And I want to tell you something else, something I'm really starting to believe: I'm going to be okay. Not today, not tomorrow, and not next week, but eventually. As okay as we mortals are privileged to get, anyway. It's good to know that - good to know that survival is still an option, and that sometimes it even feels good. That sometimes it actually feels like victory."

this is hands-down my favorite king book so far!! it was terrifying and thought-provoking and disgusting and just long enough to tell its story without overstaying its welcome. i think i need to take a break from king for a while just to bask in the fact that a book of his is actually this excellent... like?? this is the king i've been hearing about for years and being constantly disappointed by, but here he is!! i've finally found him!! wow. wow wow wow!!
