I mean...The Giver is a true classic. Lois Lowry writes so directly and succinctly. Her language is timeless. I first read this book in middle school and it is now seared into my memory the moment my 7th grade English teacher began to cry while reading this aloud. Reading it now, nearly 13 years later, I find the story just as hard-hitting and a good reminder that perfection is, in fact, fiction. I love this book with all my heart.
