The Younger Wife
by Sally Hepworth
mysterious
medium-paced
I picked this book up while I was in Florida. It was on sale at a local Target and I was PUMPED. Who doesn't love cheap books? It was still cheaper than Canadian prices, so that's a win for me.
Safe to say, I enjoyed this book. Did I take it as a serious mystery/thriller? Absolutely not. Did I have a heck of a time reading it so I could just avoid life's problems? Yes.
Dysfunctional families where the Dad marries someone younger than his daughters? Cringey.
The Mother still being married to the Father and he marries the new girl very quickly? Awkward.
Did this book have issues? Sure.
Insta-romance felt forced, but I let that slide.
The baker eating her own cake? GASP.
Kleptomania. Interesting twist but not sure if it was done justice.
The end? WOWZA. But also... it is kind of believable, but I'm from a small town.
I liked it. It was engaging and made me wonder what really happened... But we won't really get an answer.
Four out of five stars.
