Don't Hex with Texas by Shanna Swendson

4.0

This is the fourth installment in Swenden's series about Katie, the magical immune, who works for a magical company helping them keep order in New York.

In this installment, Katie's come home to Cobb, Texas, where [she's always believed] there is no magic. After her on again / off again boyfriend Owen chose to save her rather than defeat the bad guys at the end of the last book, Katie decided to remove herself from New York to let Owen fight the baddies unhindered.

As fate would have it, things in tiny Cobb aren't quite as Katie's always thought they were. Not only is there magic around, but the bad guys seem to be closer to home than expected.

If you're from a small town, or have a big, interfering family, you'll feel right at home reading this book! Katie's family all get in the way of her and her magical friends attempts to figure out what's going on in town with all the seemingly magical happenings. They also try to help Katie "catch" Owen, which offers some very funny moments.

All in all I found this a good ending to the series - assuming this is the ending. Swendsen definitely left a few threads hanging which would allow for future books if she's so inclined. This is a fast, fun, easy read with sweet characters, funny moments and a little bit of romance but no sex.

If you enjoy lighter "magical" stories this may be for you. But do start at the beginning of the series with Enchanted, Inc. and work your way through in order so you know what's going on.
