The Wild Things by Dave Eggers

5.0

I first read this book in 2010 when I was at a very different point in my life. I was just entering adulthood and was obsessed with the movie that had just come out, and had been a big fan of Where the Wild Things Are for my whole childhood. But when I read it then, this book didn’t hit me the same way it did reading it this year. I wish I had taken away some of the lessons of this book that first time when I was just figuring out life (still am) and probably needed them more, because we all have a little bit of Max inside of us. We’re all a little wild inside. And we all feel like we’re just pretending to be a wolf pretending to be a king sometimes.
