A Pessimist's Guide to Love by Jennifer Hartmann

5.0

Back with BOOK 2 in the Heartsong Duet by Jennifer Hartmann. If you haven't read The Optimist's Guide to Heartbreak just stop reading right now. Pick that book up. And then be prepared to be literally hanging off a cliff.

I finished this book in literally one sitting. I couldn't wait to dive into this duet, and it picked up in the most perfect spot. You'll love Cal and Lucy just as much in this one. You'll get to know the rest of the side characters from book 1 better, and there's a certain couple you're going to want more of. You get to learn more of Cal's past in this one and it will take you on an emotional journey. The grumpy man with a whole lotta heart.

Read if you like
- grumpy/sunshine
- dogs & cats and all the animals
- emotional storytelling
- characters working through trauma
- childhood best friends to lovers
- music

FINAL THOUGHTS: I said it once and I'll say it again. Jennifer. Hartmann. Does. Not. Miss. This duet was everything. It honestly might be in my top of the year. The banter. The emotion. The characters. The freakin' playlist. My heart went THROUGH IT in this duet, but ultimately it was satisfied at the end of The Pessimist's Guide To Love. And happy. I need more. Just blow up your TBR right now and read this duet. You won't be disappointed.
