Teach Me by Olivia Dade
3.5
funny lighthearted medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes

This is a charming slow burn romance and both characters were mature and likeable.

It follows Rose and Martin who are both teachers, and their work life and friendship as it develops into something more.

Rose was definitely the strong main character that I enjoy and Martin was a soft love interest. I liked the portrayal of a 40 something couple, and a plus size woman.

I like that they had emotional baggage and even the sex scene was realistic, a lot more than with other romance novels. I even appreciated the themes of consent and positive communication, the conflict was also realistic which I prefer.

There was in my opinion way too much info about the US education system, about marking and AP classes - as someone from the UK this bored me and interrupted the flow of the story.

3.5* as I didn’t feel any real emotional attachment to the character but liked the themes and there were representations of characters we don’t often see in contemporary romance.
