I loved this book. It's like getting to read a beautifully illustrated travel journal. It just so happens that my husband and I took nearly this same trip on our (pretty unorthodox) honeymoon with four of our friends. We also started in Beijing and took the train to Ulan Baatar where we spent some time on the Steppe and got to visit nomads and sleep in gers (aka yurts). From there we took the train up to Lake Baikal and then across Russia to Moscow. We made some of the same stops as the author. She focuses on great details and really gives you a sense of this epic train trip without turning it into a guidebook.
