Mata Hari's Last Dance
by Michelle Moran
Mata Hari’s Last Dance by Michelle Moran~
For years she has been recognized as Europe’s most famous dancer, she thrilled the masses with her exotic talents and even entertained royalty. Her lovers were countless, her wealth abundant, and overtime she acquired many powerful friends, yet when it matters most it all disappeared.
Now as she sits imprisoned, charged for espionage and accused of sending thousands to their death, Mata Hari finds herself battling alone. The only person who cares to fight for her freedom may just be the only man she has ever loved. When all seems lost, she bears her soul to a reporter. She confesses her modest beginnings in the Netherlands and reveals how a girl of no importance reinvented herself to become the infamous Mata Hari.
I admit to having no previous knowledge of this most interesting person in history and would like to thank the author for taking the time to tell the story. It’s an intriguing tale, and contains the true life lesson that Mata Hari evidently learned the hard way-you can’t buy happiness. In the end, she was convicted for her supposed crimes and was executed by firing squad, gone but certainly not forgotten. A very well-written book, that grabs the reader’s attention and never lets up. Highly recommended!
