I really enjoyed this! It reminded me a lot of my favorite series Lockwood and Co. They both deal with monsters, but they also have a good humor to them. The vibes match and I really like the vibes.
I do love the cover, but it doesn't do the best of advertising the fun. Kosara was a great character to follow.
The story has a great pace to it. There is constantly some kind of action happening. I was never bored, and I always needed to know what was going to happen next.
I loved Kosara's and Asen's dynamic. They were a great team, and I'd love for them to be something more. Their relationship is very slow burn, which was refreshing. At the end of this book, they still haven't resolved the feelings.
The monsters in this story were scary, but also fun. They were definitely dangerous.
Kosara goes through a lot in this book to get back her shadow.
The Zmey was disgusting. He's monstrous in multiple fashions. He's an abusive relationship, so trigger warnings for that. He was awful because the monstrous things he did were real.
I really enjoyed the setting in this Chernograd and Belograd. They became real.
This story definitely ends with a lot of things unresolved. There's a cliffhanger. Kosara and Asen have more things to resolve. I've got the sequel coming to me because I need it!
More people should read this book. It's a good time with some monsters.
