This is my first book by Garver. I happened to see it in a booksta post and something called to me, so I picked it up.
Holy moly am I glad I did. The first part of the book is told in alternating past and present. It read pretty seamlessly and didn’t hinder the story. We follow Finnian and Cassian, both gods who view death in a very different light.
There’s enemies to lovers vibes through the first part and a bit of a slow burn but it helped to build the story. The mythos and world building was absolutely top tier, very deep and complex web built but delightful to read.
I was not expecting the ending. At all. The way she took the story and emotionally drove it, was amazing. I truly loved how she wrapped it up and ended the story for Finny and Cassian.
There is a bit of spice but it’s pretty mild and barely open door, but still very good. Overall I am so glad I read this.
