Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
2.0
I'm done with this bloody book finally! Rebecca Bloomwood is probably the most annoying character I have ever read. She's a total ditz (but not a complete idiot) with a lack of self-control. I suppose her shopping addiction didn't bother me as much as she kept getting herself into all of these different messes without considering the consequences. I wanted to take my book and smack her over the head repeatedly.
The book was also slow-moving at times with a lack of action and a lot of exploration into Rebecca's thoughts and feelings, which made for a boring book. The last 80 pages picked up and the resolved nicely, which is the only reason why I gave this book two stars instead of one. I think the book could have fared better had 100 pages of the middle been cut out.
I suppose I'm a harsh critic of this because I failed to realize the Shopaholic series is considered chick lit, and knowing myself, I probably wouldn't have picked it up had I known that. But I know the Shopaholic series is popular (and I am a former shopaholic myself) so I decided to give it a try.
I'm done with the Shopaholic series though. Mainly because I can't stand the main character and don't find her attributes endearing at all.
