In a Cottage in a Wood by Cass Green

5.0

I found myself loving this book far, far more than I thought I would.

It was in the 2 for £7 section in Tesco, which is usually a space reserved for books that are... fine. And this one started off being just as fine.

But by about halfway through, I found myself being totally drawn into it. in some ways it did feel like a typical crime thriller, but it also had elements of horror and genuine terror, which made it all the more engaging and enjoyable than just trying to work out the twists and turns that these types of books usually contain.

I was also pretty certain very early on that I had guessed the twist - but it turns out I didn't. So I applaud the author for coming up with a decent twist that stayed away from the obvious.
