Affaire Royale by Nora Roberts

3.0

My first, and likely last Nora Roberts book. It was very easy to read. I think Roberts is a great writer and great with characters. Not so great at the mystery aspect. I figured out who done it roughly 90 pages in. It was very obvious and uninteresting. It was oddly deep and nice sometimes, but then it wasn't as well. All the touching felt very unnatural (hands, shoulders, hair), but maybe because I'm not a touchy person. It's necessary of course for the kind of books she writes, but I always felt weird about it. Could just be me. Others have said this is very dated, but I didn't really get that feeling except for the fact that all the men smoked quite a lot indoors and it was seen as an attractive quality.
