2⭐️- DNF @ 202 pages.
I wanted to love this one so bad. And on paper it was the perfect book for me. Unfortunately I think it is suffering from a lack of proper time spent fleshing out all the bones. It’s got good ideas that are just not executed well. The writing also feels incomplete I almost felt like I was reading a first draft. The relationship wasn’t believable. The pace is weird and clunky. There were some repetitive phrases throughout and some time skips that felt like entire scenes got cut for time and they just forgot to smooth out the time wrinkles.
I think if this book had spent more time being edited, fleshed out, more descriptive, better world building, more cohesive timeline, and was about 50-100 pages longer to allow for the pacing and tension to have time to build up it would have been so much better. Unfortunately this one just didn’t spark any joy in me. I was FORCING myself to pick it up by the end and I don’t DNF this one lightly because I was SO excited for it but I just can’t anymore
