Secondhand Souls by Christopher Moore

5.0

As always, this author never disappoints.

Secondhand Souls is one of my favorite reads so far this year. Not only because it makes me nostalgic for a time long passed but because every single character in this novel is obscenely hilarious. Especially Sophie.

Yet, the highlight of this novel for me was probably Mint Fresh. I loved Minty in book one and I loved him a million times more. His character development was very well done, as was the little peak into his past. (I’d kill to read a book centered around him!) I especially loved having his history being linked with the Egyptian mythology.

(Anybody who knows me, knows I’m a sucker for mythology so the introduction of Egyptian mythology was a nice surprise that I had not expected.)

The singular complaint I have about this book is that the climax wasn’t as big and dramatic as I needed it to be. Otherwise it was done really well for a sequel to my favorite childhood novel and I couldn’t really ask for a better ending for some of my favorite characters ever to be put on a page.
