saphirablue 's review for:
Magic's Pawn
by Mercedes Lackey
This book, no, Vanyel, broke me into itty bitty pieces. For a long time, I've been wondering how he'll ever be a Herald (not that he behaved evilly or something but some people are just not wired that way in order to be a Herald) and then? *sobs*
I really liked the lovestory between Tylendel and Vanyel and how 'Lendel managed to draw Van out and let him see that there isn't just loneliness and pain and hurting. And then? Yeah, I'm a bit angry at 'Lendel. I get him a bit but still. :( And, poor, poor, poor Gala. ;(
When Van said that he'll never be happy again? I really hope that this won't come true. That he'll find happiness and even (romantic) love again.
The vision Vanyel has of his death (?). OMG. I really, really, really hope that this isn't true. *meep*
I really like Savil and I like that she's not perfect and that it gets shown with her "mistakes" (which in some cases is just being bad with people which isn't really a "mistake", is it?) that Heralds are "just" people too. I also like, that it's shown that this job takes a toll on ones body.
For me, there has been a bit too little about the companions in this book. I get why, but still. I love them and always want to read more about them. :) That being said - Yfandes? Waiting over ten years for her Chosen and then almost losing him in the first night? *hugs her so much*
I'm madly in love with Moondance. I really hope that there will be a book (or Triology) about Moondance and Starwind and how they met (yeah, got that bit when Moondance told Van but I want more of him/them) and their people. Just, *gimmie*.
Yeah, despite the heartbreak? I'm in love with Vanyel. *runs off to order the next two books*
