The Wild Palms by William Faulkner
4.0

Faulkner writes with a viscous hunger that, after going so long without being nourished, turns into an exhausted apathy that somehow continues to labor to hold onto its fire. I read this book because of it being, rather importantly, referenced in one of my favorite movies, "Breathless" by Godard. This movie and book, in combination, provides an awesome literary experience. You are provided with two very different types of apathetic fire...Godard's vs. Faulkner's.
