Solaris by Stanisław Lem
3.25
dark mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I liked that the ocean was truly, as another reviewer put it, an alien alien. And I also liked the extended discourses that delved into the fictional history of the study of the planet, although they were sometimes a bit too extended. So too was the general idea of needing to explore ourselves as well as the rest of the cosmos. But beyond that I found the dialogue strange and the plot lacking, creepy, and uninteresting.
