Aavoilla ulapoilla by Jack London

3.0

Boy yearns for adventure at sea. Abandons his safe and privileged life in pursuit of hastily formed dream. This gets us to 45-50% of the book.

The 2nd half is a jargon-filled, sea spray taste of exhilaration. Sadly, I was expecting more than a salty mist of excitement in an adventure story. Action is buffeted and weighed down (anchored, if you will) in needless terminology.

In short, the book tells us that crime doesn't pay and to stay in school.

Didn't care for any of the characters, though admittedly I'm not a character driven reader.

Contemplated giving this a 2.
