Entertaining, tightly plotted dystopian novel. The experiences of Darrow, after the much lamented death/murder/suicide of his wife Eo are both cruel and deceitful as he tries to fraudulently gain a place in the world of the caste of "golds".
(Very like The Hunger Games, but here there are castes not Districts)
Found the book an engaging read, with a few twists and suprises - right up until the last chapter when I was disappointed with Darrow's choice; I felt it was purely a plot device for book 2.
