Mexican Gothic
by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Apparently this is the year I read horror!
I really, really enjoyed Mexican Gothic. It was so atmospheric and, well, gothic. You could feel the cold, stifling darkness of High Place looming around you. The characters were so well drawn, and you simply loved to hate them. Noemà is one of the best heroines I have ever read—consistent until the very end. I loved her stubbornness, her poise, and her courage. This is a consuming story that wraps itself around you like a vine. I would definitely recommend!
