This was my first venture into the Brayshaw world and Break Me did not disappoint.
The Kings of Brayshaw rule the town, the people, everything. Each of his brothers before have fallen in love and have already started their family leaving Royce Brayshaw as the last man standing. While Royce and his brothers are super close and they live in the same mansion together so Royce isn't really alone, he feels lonely at the end of the night when they all head to their separate wings. However, he fools himself into thinking that he is fine being alone, only filling his bed with random women and being known as the party boy, that is until he meets Brielle Bishop and she drives him just a little bit crazy.
Brielle was supposed to be an end to a means for retaliation. However, when Royce brings her back to Brayshaw she fits into his world better than he ever expected. Brielle was never allowed to opportunity to grow up in Brayshaw like her older brother, Bass, was. Instead she was shipped off to live with her aunt and she has missed her brother every day they've been apart. When Royce brings her the opportunity to be closer to the one person she's been missing she knows she won't mess it up. She doesn't care how miserable he intends to make her life it can't be worse than what she was living in.
Royce and Brielle play a game of cat and mouse throughout most of the book. He refuses to give in to what he's feeling, while she just wants to prove that she belongs. Their circle around each other gets smaller and smaller until they are left standing on top of each other, but will his darkness pull her under or will her light shine bright enough for both of them?
This whole world, while new to me, didn't leave me wondering who was who, or what was happening. Break Me is well written and the characters are well developed, so I had no trouble jumping in and following right along.
